Romance on Facebook, a sensitive book about an online relationship between two married people, was recently launched at Oxford Bookstore ...

On May 18, Oxford Bookstore and Jaico Publishing House organised the book launch of Romance on Facebook, penned by Amrita Priya, a passionate writer. Eminent painter Jogen Chowdhury released the book. The launch was followed by an engaging discussion on the growing popularity of social networking sites and their impact .The audience attending the event was enlightened by the discussion and shared their views and experiences with the author and the chief guest.
Amrita said, "It is a sensitive book about an
online relationship between two married people. The allure of a person towards whom you once had a romantic inclination is very powerful and the charm cannot be underestimated."
"It illuminates an important facet about two
people getting closer. Like a dish is garnished to enhance the dish or the flavour, similarly the book has lots of catchy message exchanges in between the two principal characters," she added.
The book Romance on Facebook projects an
engaging story of two people Geetanjali and Siddhartha who meet in the social networking site after a gap of 19 years. They were attracted to one another as teenagers. As these two characters have their own partners and families, the author has magnificently projected their eagerness and desire to interact with each other.
It is a book that focuses on the issue of
changing society. "The story is based on Internet messages and social interactions. It revolves around two people sitting in a closed room having private conversations and sharing intimate things," said painter Jogen Chowdhury.
We write and paint our own experiences.
"Hence, the first book always comes from personal experience. The younger generation will appreciate the book and relate to the attractive subject as it has already acquired the seventh position as the bestseller fiction in Mumbai," continued the painter.
The author mentioned that, " The story idea
originated two years ago when a girl from my husband's school contacted him through a personal message. The gleam and blush in his eyes proves how school friends or college friends matter. I started working on that."
When asked about infidelity and whether the
book promotes it, she answered, "There is a line of infidelity. When a person starts confiding in someone more than his or her real life partner, it is infidelity for me. This book is more about reminiscing the past."
She also stated, "The book comes with a very
strong message. Human beings are a bundle of emotions so at times we should listen to our mind and not heart. And this is not about online infidelity."
